Beth Murphy is a self-taught artist who has followed her love of nature to an artistic end. Prior to channeling her creativity into collage work, Beth utilized her graduate degree in counseling by working with individuals with disabilities. Perhaps as a result of this challenging career, Beth is quick to dub her work as “non-controversial art.” Her botanical and mixed media collages offer viewers the calm of a walk in the woods, the serenity of a spring garden, and the majesty and mystery of nature.
In addition to creating artwork Beth offers workshops to those who are interested in learning the technique and those seeking the relaxation and peace of working with organic materials. Beth’s work, created in her New Jersey studio, incorporates the flora and reflects the landscapes of New England, the Midwest and the Mid-Atlantic. Be sure to visit the Process section to understand the attention and meticulous care that are put into each collage.
And she loves artichokes.
